Prepare Now – Get Trained

When a major disaster strikes along the Wasatch Front, neighbors may be the first to help neighbors. CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) training prepares ordinary citizens to safely assist their families and communities until professional responders arrive.

CERT participants learn practical, life-saving skills including:

• Disaster triage and basic first aid
• Fire suppression and hazard mitigation
• Light search and rescue
• Emergency communications and team organization
• Home and neighborhood preparedness
• Working with first responders and emergency officials

CERT training helps build calm, capable volunteers who can make a real difference during emergencies.

Together, we can build a safer, stronger, and more prepared community.

A great evening of community preparedness brought approximately 750 people together for the April 24, 2026, “Ready Together” Preparedness Fair.

Guest speakers Dave Holladay, Shayla Egan, and Tami Girsberger shared valuable insights, while standing-room-only breakout sessions and preparedness displays kept the evening lively and informative. Attendees also enjoyed jazz music by the Kaelin Brothers and door prize giveaways.

People left inspired, better informed, and motivated to strengthen preparedness in their homes and neighborhoods. We hope you’ll join us next year!

Why Prepare?

Disasters can strike without warning, and the right preparations can make all the difference. Having the skills, resources, and a well-prepared grab-and-go bag ensures your family can respond quickly and stay safe in any emergency.

Now Is The Time

Waiting until an emergency happens is too late to start planning. Even just recently, Utah experienced two earthquakes—one centered in the Uintah Mountains and another in Lehi. By taking simple steps now—like building a grab-and-go bag and learning essential skills—you can protect your family and face any situation with confidence.

About Neighbors-Prepared.org

We help families and individuals prepare for emergencies through education and community support. While open to all, this effort primarily serves residents in Holladay’s newly annexed northeast section (3900 S to 4500 S, 2300 E to I-215). Neighborhood volunteers help promote and host annual preparedness events to help the community stay ready. Want to get involved? Email us! We’re pleased to have participation from the City of Holladay, Salt Lake County, the State of Utah, and the Salt Lake Olympus Stake, and Salt Lake Olympus, Holladay, and Holladay North Stakes.

Prepare for the Inevitable: Understanding the Risk

Experts warn that the Wasatch Front is overdue for a major earthquake. While we can’t predict the exact timing, the possibility of significant seismic activity in the coming decades is a real threat. Taking proactive steps now can help protect your family, home, and community.

A Key Strategy – Grab’n Go bags

In an emergency, having a grab-and-go bag for each family member is critical. These bags should include essential supplies for several days. It’s also crucial to have a bag in your car, ensuring you can quickly evacuate, whether on foot or by vehicle. This year our focus is helping families update or build their grab-and-go bags.

Come to a Fair

We host Preparedness Fairs & Training Events to help families get ready for any disaster. Bring the whole family—enjoy refreshments, games, and hands-on learning. Gain essential skills, tips, and connections, from building 72-hour kits to storing food and water, preparing your vehicle, cooking without power, and improving first aid readiness.

Find Your Area

Neighbors-Prepared serves the northeast Holladay community—bringing together neighborhoods within this area to strengthen preparedness and response.

This region is organized using existing geographic boundaries that align with the City of Holladay’s local LDS Stakes, allowing us to coordinate more effectively at a neighborhood level.

Within the Olympus Stake, neighborhoods are further divided into seven smaller areas. Each area is designed to help neighbors connect, communicate, and respond together in an emergency.

Find your area on the map and get to know how your neighborhood is organized—because preparedness starts close to home.
